Thanks for your interest in attending our book launch!!
The book in its humbled form, seeks to express truth, our own truth without being dictated by the dominant White power structure. It seeks to identify and analyse the black condition in our own view and perspective. This book says nothing new to the pages of history, as it embodies the ideas and visions of the Black Consciousness Movement (BCM) as perceived by Bantu Steven Biko himself. He, Bantu Steven Biko in the transcripts titled ‘Frank talk’ which were later captured in the book titled "I WRITE WHAT I LIKE", wrote that "the most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed" and so these poems represent thoughts from the mind of the oppressed that seeks to disempower the yoke of oppression and domination in all its shapes and forms by reclaiming their own minds. In this book we do not claim to be prescribing solutions to Black problems, instead in this book we are having a dialogue, a black family discussion, where we are identifying and analysing our own condition and preconditions in our own view as a Black family. Most of the poems in this book have been recited on many platforms in South Africa and in Kenya, where they have touched many sleeping giants and to some extend it is because of this feedback we received from those sleeping giants, who were touched by the message on those poems that inspired us to compile and publish this book, so we can continue to touch other sleeping giants around the world.
